So, the reporting guidelines say we should report anyone claiming to be in a different location to where their profile says. Says "Spammers and scammers claim to be traveling."

Um... what about those of us who actually *DO* travel? Is this community really supposed to be so paranoid that we assume everyone who travels must be lying about it to scam us? No wonder I can't meet anyone... we go into a social networking/dating site too afraid to show our faces -- does anyone else see the contradiction here?

`While it would be nice to be so trusting as to let anyone contact anyone, without any concerns about possible spam/scams, the reality of the situation is that as a 100% free network, we have to have safeguards built into the system...or else the network would be overrun by 'bad apples'. While the reporting guidelines might seem strict to you, keep in mind that they do not cause automatic deletion when someone reports something...all they do is notify us (ie. Big Brother) that something is a little out of the ordinary, or outside what is allowed. We then look things over to determine whether or not we think there might be a problem. In some cases, it is a false alarm. In other cases, the report makes us aware of a spammer/scammer and we delete the account. So...if you do travel, and you do use our network while you travel...you better make absolutely sure you do not ask anyone for money for any reason whatsoever, because the 'moving location' is already a big red flag. Again, sorry if this seems strict, but these rules are in place to protect members from people who claim to be from one place, but just happen to be 'on vacation' when they decide to interact with someone. Thanks, = )

`If you want to know why I went two months without signing in, it was because, August and September, I was actually outside the US, training for Peace Corps. I was afraid to sign in because I thought I would get deleted -- my profile still says US, but my server would have been detected as being not-US.

I still say, if you are trying to protect users from scams, far more focused rule would be "Users may not ask other users for money." Problem solved, no matter what cover story a scammer comes up with.
